Write my Essay on Cnana Bu Ti Anti for me

LinsLuvsYa what did u do?

CyberFlux well I hung out with Kelly and Molly at Cosi, then Beth met up with us cuz we had made plans. we left and came back to my apt to watch the ring, I dont what to go into details much, but we ended up going farther than weve gone in the past, but we stoped and she stormed out, I really think I fucked up our friendship.. I really shouldnt have let it go that far.....I sorry to drop this on yo. Im jsut really upset.

LinsLuvsYa jerad- dont feel bad...that sucks, Im sorry. honestly though- I dont think you fucked up your friendship- but I do think its good that u stopped it from going any further or from continuting- bcuz in the long run, i think thats why u do still have such an emotional attachment which is why being w/her is so hard on y ou.

LinsLuvsYa and if she stormed out- it was prolly just bcuz she felt rejected? you did the right thing stop...if that is what u did?

CyberFlux I think Ive been kidding myself thouhg, Im not over her. I truely not over her its like I tend to meassure people up to what I see in her. It wasnt like I stoped it we both kinda did.

LinsLuvsYa well why did she strom out?

LinsLuvsYa storm

CyberFlux I dont know exactly, she said something before she left, but I didnt understand it

LinsLuvsYa what do you see in her? what qualities does she have that are good for you? bcuz everything you tell me about her, it seems like she isnt very good for you. (Im not trying be a bitch, but honestly, from my own mistakes, you need like seriously think about why you still like her, and if it is even worth it..why is she so important to you? what does she have that other ppl dont? does she make you happy, or does she only make u feel worse about yourself??)

LinsLuvsYa somtimes I want be w/a person bcuz I am used them- Im comfy w/them..it feels right bcuz it used to be right...but just bcuz it used be right- doesnt mean it is now...

CyberFlux I actually feel good about myself around her, no matter what situation I can feel comfort in her arms. There is no tangible description for the way she makes me feel, when Im around her. This sounds werid but shes like a safe place for me, she is like the feeling you get when youre at home surrounded by just family and warmth

CyberFlux I dont want, and cant have a relationship with her. It cant happen, again thats too much regress for me. Plus too many logical facts that stand in the way of it

LinsLuvsYa wow, okay a) well worded and b) I dont know what to tell you jerad. all I can say is to talk to her about it, there has be a reason she stormed out...I dont think you fucked up your friendship...but I do think messing around w/her is really stupid..bcuz its only going to make you want to be w/her more..and also- have u talked to her about being in a relationship again?

CyberFlux heres the thing, ok weve fooled around a lil bit this summer. One of the last times we fooled around, we kinda talked about it afterwards online. Like should we do this again and all, one thing that just stuck in my mind was, she said that its not like we can have a relationship becuase Im going back to Minnesota. I really need to find out how she actually feels for me. Im actually more prepared, and frankly would make things easier if she would say she didnt

CyberFlux Im less prepared if she would say she did

LinsLuvsYa so basically she has been messing around you all summer- and then she said that u cant have a relationship bcuz of minnesota...but ur wondering if she wasnt going minnesota if she would want a relationship?

CyberFlux I know that physically she still is attracted to me but emotionally I dont know. That kinda is my questions, but itt more like I just want to know if shes in the same situation Im in. Not really getting over me

CyberFlux its more just for my own knowledge, so I can move on cuz that is the point Im trying to t get past. I know that a serious relationship is out of the question,

LinsLuvsYa physically attracted to you? muwahaha. jk jk jk, sorry...but

In America many horrible things have happened. It amazes me to hear of the things that occur to people of the same age as me. I feel that the given statistics are astonishing, shocking, and saddening. Aside from those feelings though, I do feel that these events are to some degree preventable. I will describe exactly what I have observed in detail, and how I feel these types of issues should be delt with on a national scale.

Over the past 5 years the rate of teen suicide has increased 00%. Suicide is a result of untreated depression. People with depression should deal with there problem immediately, because the longer depression is left untouched, the higher risk that person has for committing suicide. Personally, I could not imagine deliberately killing myself because I felt bad, and cannot actually relate to this problem from my own experiences. I do know that if anyone knows of a person that has a plan to commit suicide, that they should take action to prevent a possible death. If you know of someone who has a plan to do this and they have told you, this is there way of asking you to stop them (whether it is conscious or unconscious). The more people that person has supporting them, the better chance they have of surviving.

In America ,600 babies are born to unwed teens a day. My opinion is that it is obviously bad financially, and bad for the babies to be born to young teens because the babies will not receive the right amount of attention. To prevent that problem these young people need to stop having babies. There are pretty much two choices use birth control, or for the people who don't believe in that, just don't have sex. Now, I would hope that no one around is dumb enough to think that all these teens are going to stop having sex. There are many forms of birth control ranging from using condoms to taking the pill. So remember, don't be a fool, wrap your tool.

Help with essay on Teen Problems

In America ,000 teens are suspended a day. I personally thing that it is dumb if you get suspended because your probably doing something that you could just do when your not at school. I have done a few things during school that I just should have waited until school was over. I got in a little trouble with the school, but nothing too bad. It just went to show me that certain things shouldn't be done at school. Also, I came across some interesting research that has shown that teens that eat frequent family dinners are less likely than other teens to get into fights or be suspended from school, and they are also at lower risk for thoughts of suicide. Frequent family dining is also associated with doing well in school and developing healthy eating habits. This idea seemed a bit strange to me but if it works for some people, then good for them. I feel that this may have some impact, but not a huge impact on me.

The vast majorities of teenagers don't take drugs or drink because they are clinically depressed, suicidal, or lacking in self-esteem. They do it because it gives them pleasure, like drinking coffee, smoking cigarettes, and drinking liquor. Just say no is absurd advice to give teenagers when it comes to drugs and alcohol. Also, it is dumb to think that taking drugs or drinking alcohol has anything to do with being good or bad kids. Its got everything to do with the allure of experimenting with forbidden substances that promise pleasure, status, and acceptance. Parents can prohibit teenagers from drinking or taking drugs but that does not necessarily mean they can prevent it. A 18 CASA survey found that teens who sit down to dinner with their families twice a week or less are four times more likely to smoke cigarettes, three times more likely to smoke marijuana and nearly twice as likely to drink as those who ate dinner with their parents six or seven times a week . Although this technique may prevent the overall use of drugs, a parent's biggest concerns should be the prevention of chronic use and addiction of such drugs.

Also excluding alcohol, although it is illegal for teens, Marijuana is the key illegal drug in use among teens today. And this proves that those statistics are a bit misleading; as many illegal drugs have much harder short and especially long-term effects. Most of those teens that use marijuana don't move on to harder drugs anyways, and it's possible that that marijuana may be legal in the future to those teens of ages 18 or 1. Parents should not focus on controlling the use of drugs, but the abuse of such substances

CHICAGO - They became the brunt of baseball jokes when their roster was chopped to pieces after winning the 17 World Series. They were targeted for contraction -- the baseball term for elimination -- when their fan base became nearly nonexistent. They play in a football stadium, not a true ballpark.

Yet, this most unexpected and unheralded of teams -- the Florida Marlins -- is returning to the baseball mountaintop.

The Marlins punched their World Series ticket Wednesday, defeating the hard-luck Cubs -6 before ,574 shell-shocked fans at Wrigley Field. The Cubs, who havent won the Series since 108 and havent reached the Series in 58 years, were defeated by an 11-year-old franchise that will be chasing its second title in six years.

Ive waited for this for 1 years, and Im going to the World Series with a team that nobody expected to be in the playoffs, said catcher Ivan Rodriguez as his Marlins teammates celebrated inside the cramped clubhouse.

Write my Essay on Marlins for me

Said the Marlins 7-year-old manager, Jack McKeon, who took over in May when the team was six games under .500 ``This is the biggest moment of my career.

Owner Jeffrey Loria, champagne dripping from his new National League Champions cap, said, ``Im not pleased. Im ecstatic. What could be better? This is just fantastic for the fans in South Florida and for players who never quit.

Just as they had done in five of their previous wins this postseason, the Marlins had to rally to defeat the Cubs on Wednesday. But the two-run hole they found themselves in during Game 7 was nothing compared to the task they faced when they fell behind three games to one in the NLCS.

Rather than wilt, the Marlins struck back with three consecutive wins to become just the fourth team in league championship series history to recover from such a predicament. And they had to beat the Cubs and their two best pitchers -- Mark Prior in Game 6 on Tuesday and Kerry Wood in Game 7 -- to do it. And beat them on the road.

Heart, thats the only way to explain it, said Marlins left fielder Jeff Conine, who caught Paul Bakos fly ball for the games final out.

Conine was a member of the 17 World Series team, too.

I dont care how many times you do it, its always unbelievably special, Conine said.

Now the Marlins must wait to find out which team -- the Boston Red Sox or New York Yankees -- theyll meet in the World Series. Those two teams have their own Game 7 showdown tonight, with the winner taking on the Marlins in Game 1 of the World Series on Saturday in either Boston or New York.

The Marlins delivered the first blow Wednesday.

After being outscored 1-0 in the first inning by the Cubs during the NLCS, the Marlins rang up three runs at the outset in Game 7 when Miguel Cabrera homered off Wood to left-center with two men on. It was Cabreras third home run of the NLCS, a record number for a rookie.

The lead proved short-lived when the Cubs answered with three runs of their own in the second inning off Marlins starter Mark Redman. Those runs roused the crowd out of its dormancy.

Damien Miller made it -1 when his ground ball scored Eric Karros, but it was Wood who tied it with a two-run homer to left that was hit so far and so hard that Marlins left fielder Jeff Conine merely turned his head to watch it land in the bleachers. Wood is no slouch with the bat, having hit six home runs previously in his career. But none carried as much oomph as his one in Game 7.

Not only did it awaken the Wrigley crowd, but seemed to have the same effect on the Cubs.

While Redman got bottom-line results in Game by limiting the Cubs to two runs over 6 / innings, he was nowhere near dominant. He survived despite allowing eight hits and walking four.

In Game 7, he didnt even survive to the fourth. After Sammy Sosa was hit by a pitch, Moises Alou blasted a towering, two-run shot off Redman that made it 5-. Unwilling to risk further damage, manager Jack McKeon began deploying the reserves, replacing Redman with Brad Penny.

And the Marlins, who had won five of their six games this postseason in come-from-behind fashion, returned to their comfort zone after falling behind in Game 7.

Pinch-hitter Brian Banks and Luis Castillo each reached on walks as Wood began to tire in the fifth. Ivan Rodriguez doubled to left, driving in Banks and extending his hitting streak in the postseason to 11 games. The RBI was his NLCS-record 10th. Cabrera tied the score when his ground ball scored Castillo. The Marlins re-gained the lead at 6-5 on Derrek Lees single to right.

The Marlins, who had never before defeated Wood, knocked him out in the sixth.

Order your Feminism in Antigone paper at affordable prices with cheap essay writing service! Not only is Antigone a feminist's play, but a revolutionary one as well, making a revolt against authority seem glamorous and romantic.

Clearly, we can not overlook Antigone and just consider it a classic play from simpler times. The underlying message from the text is apparent, it is a threat to all societies in which a governmental system presides over the people. Antigone and her stubborn outlook in relation to the divine authority of the Gods was a direct threat the social order that her uncle Creon, the king of Thebes, was trying to control with a reign of terror.

Creon generously agreed to raise his nieces and nephews (Antigone, Ismene, Eteocles, and Polyneices) after their father and his brother-in-law Oedipus gauged his eyeballs out of their sockets and exiled himself from the kingdom he once ruled with patience and virtue. The city-state of Thebes never made a complete recovery from the tragic loss of their king. A civil war rose through the streets of the city; brothers fought against brothers. This is precisely where the tragic ordeal began.

Eteocles and Polyneices battled against each other until their inevitable and untimely deaths. Eteocles fought beside his uncle, the king. He received full military honors at his funeral and a proper burial was arranged. Polyneices, however, was left mortally wounded in the battlefield to be pecked at by the birds. Creon made it publicly known that no man was to bury the body of Polyneices, he was to be regarded as a disgrace to the royal family and an enemy of the state.

Cheap University Papers on Feminism in Antigone

Self righteous and pious, Antigone could not bare to leave her brother's body to whither away in the field. Guided by the light of the moon, Antigone buried the deceased's body, knowingly disobeying her uncle's decree. Dusk faded into dawn and with dawn came a new day. Creon summoned for Antigone, after he had learned from the guards who were responsible for the burial of Polyneices. Antigone hung her head and admitted the activity she participated in the night before that had deprived her of sleep.

Furious with his niece's actions, Creon sentenced her with a dire consequence, death. But Antigone did not sway from her convictions as she argued she was just a mere mortal aware of the limitations of a human life. She accepted her fate and acknowledged that if it should please the Gods, she would die in honor for seeing to her brother's body. Antigone viewed her life as inconsequential to the Gods. Creon's arrogance prevented him from understanding this.

Determined to make an example of his undisputed power with the life of his niece, Creon would not back down from his authoritative position. The plot thickened when we were introduced to Creon's son Haimon, who was incidentally engaged to be married to Antigone. Creon maintained his stance, despite the pleas of his son. It is debatable if his own personal interests in ruling his country with fear impaired his insight to justice. Haimon carefully considered his options and announced that if his future bride were to be killed, he would take his own life and join her in the after-life.

Teiresias, the blind prophet, was called on to console the king and offer insight. Creon refused to view the situation rationally, Teiresias' insistence that he was a disturbed man only made Creon's rage more fierce. Teiresias parted ways with the angry king, leaving behind his prophecy. "The time is not far off when you shall pay back corpse for corpse, flesh of your own flesh."

The story escalated when the queen, Eurydice, overheard the tale of her son's death. Antigone was indeed put to death, and Haimon, true to his word, took his own life. Overwhelmed by panic and anxiety, Eurydice's life too came to a sudden, tragic end.

Aristotle's formula for a tragic story was brilliantly followed in both Oedipus Rex and Oedipus the King. In Antigone, however, it is unclear who the tragic figure is, a key component to any tragic story. The title of the play suggests that Antigone is the tragic figure and Creon is a secondary character. A careful analysis of the play reveals that even though Antigone's actions are the root of all evil within the confounds of the script, Creon is perhaps the true tragic figure because of the ill-fated decisions he made. Antigone's defiance of the state laws and regulations continue to be more of a danger to extreme fundamentalists in society today than they were to the characters of the play.

Cathleen Cleaver, counsel to the U.S. House of Representatives subcommittee on the Constitution, delivered a speech at Boston University in October 17. During her speech, she maintains the importance of the government imposing laws on the Internet to regulate peoples conduct especially where children could fall as victims. Cleaver does a really good job of using ethos, logos and particularly pathos in her argument to her audience which probably consisted mostly of parents.

Cleaver worked in Washington D.C., at the Family Research Center. This position gives the persona of someone with family values and an advocacy for children. In paragraph three of Cleavers speech, she claims that the Internet can be a "clear and present danger" if there are no laws to regulate peoples conduct, especially where children are concerned. Pornography, specifically, is highly accessible to anyone using the Internet. There is little restriction put on people posting pornographic material on the Internet. Cleaver uses ethos, as a professional, educated, activist to reach out to the public, specifically parents, to speak out to the government and try to have laws passed that will protect the children. In paragraph 1, Cleaver states that opponents to the restrictions being put on the Internet feel that it is up to the parents to monitor their childrens use on the Internet. But, she argues that although there is software to prevent accessing adult sites, there are always ways around them. Children are finding their way into forums that show them how to bypass the protective software, and there is still access to other computers at libraries or at a friends house. Cleaver is wanting to put an idea into these parents heads that will make them react angrily to what is being allowed on the Internet and hopefully cause them to push for laws protecting children.

The Internet does not belong to pornographers! Using logos, Cleaver describes in paragraph six how the

pornography industry is "the third largest sector of sales on the Internet, generating $1 billion annually." "The Washington Post has called the Internet the largest pornography store in the history of mankind." The posting and accessibility can all be done in the convenience of ones home without worry of risks or ones identity being found out according to the tenth paragraph. Paragraph 11 shows Cleavers beliefs that pornography on the Internet "celebrates unhealthy and antisocial kinds of sexual activity, such as sadomasochism, abuse, and degradation." Cleaver thinks there should be some restrictions put on the Internet by the government because the government seems to have control over every other kind of medium. Maybe the search engines could be stopped from running ads to porn sites and Internet Service Providers should monitor chat rooms designed for children as she argues in paragraph sixteen.

Cleavers use of pathos is probably the most effective device she uses to create fear and shock in the audience of exactly what is going on on the Internet. The scenarios she creates in paragraph one are startling and put an impression in everyones mind of what could happen not only to adults but to innocent children. Pedophiles are able to log on to websites as a child-user and build a trust with another child to fascinate them with pornography they can email to them and possibly find out where they live. This is all described in paragraph nine. In paragraphs 1 and 0, Cleaver stresses that "technology by its very nature requires unconditional respect for the fundamental interests of society" and "it must respect the prerogatives of a civil society, among which is protection of children." These statements are attempting to make the audience respond by wanting to protect their children from this horrible monster.

After reading Cleavers speech, I felt the need to heighten my awareness as far as what my children were accessing on the Internet and to also educate them on being careful in chat rooms. I did this by stressing to them that they never give out personal information to anyone. Cleaver did an excellent job at putting thoughts and images in my mind of terrible things that could happen, and Im sure she did this to her audience on the day of her speech.

This seems to be the question that the Ft. Walton Beach High School football team thrived on. Having just come off of a -8 season, we were not the heavy favorites to go anywhere. But my teammates and I didn't let this factor determine how our season was going to end. I knew we had the ingredients of success that would enable us to beat the odds

The number one ingredient that made us successful on the battle field was the ability to learn to believe in ourselves and each other. Going into the season we did not have many supporters, one of these doubters was myself. Having felt the sting of the previous losing -8 season, I did not expect much out of the upcoming one, but I thought, Heck, I've put four years into this I might as well see it through. It was slow in coming, but the belief that we could make something happen began to sneak up on us. (Add something that says that you practiced hard and long with lots of sweat and blood and also some broken bones and spirits. ) We began to think of ourselves as a contender for the state title; in fact our motto became, ONE FOR ALL, ALL FOR ONE, TOGETHER WE STAND, TOGETHER WE FALL, 1… … … STATE. By the time the season began to roll around we had coaxed our dim belief in ourselves into a raging inferno. Obstacles would present themselves, but we would overcome them because we believed.

Our next two ingredients went simultaneously with the efforts the team put forth. Our coaches and the conditions we dealt with to become a contending finalist team led us to become both faithful and loyal to our teammates. (This sounds confusing???) When I crossed the white lines and took up my position as receiver, I had faith that my quarterback would provide me with the ball and if not, he would determine the right decision. If I found the ball over-thrown soaring by my head or my quarterback buried underneath a pile of the other teams jerseys, I still remained loyal to my quarterback and attacked the next play with the same confidence as the last one. What I believe encouraged these traits, was having God as the backbone of our team. Our coaches and teammates presented us with a worshipful way of playing football. We began taping our wrists before each game and dedicating that game to someone by writing their name on the tape. I dedicated mine to the team, because in the end I was simply playing for the men next to me. After each game we circled up to return the thanks for being blessed with another victory or just being able to gather beneath the stars (to artsy fartsy) to wage this battle of grit iron determination.

As soon as we found our belief in ourselves and our loyalty and faith to one another, we learned determination. The season truly began in the summer at 800am Monday practices that lasted through the whole week. We met each practice with strength and a determination so we would be able to make a statement with the way this years season was going to turn out. Next, there was Camp Timpoochee, which will always hold a warm spot in many of our hearts. (warm spot…I don't think so.) We were fortunate enough to be spared that camp this season, in favor for another. (Delete this, it doesn't make sense and takes away from the essay) To call it a football boot camp would be the only thing that would do it justice. But, our burning determination drove us though those rough times. When we cleared the rough terrain, our eye opened and we realized that we had something special going for us. We took out our locked up emotions from last year on our first opponent. Least we say, we saw the light at the end of the tunnel. Our hard work and determination had gotten us the first of many victories to come. Cheap Custom Essays on "Football Essay"

These are just a few of the fruits that I have reaped and will continue to reap from that season. I feel sometimes that I have experienced an event in life when you transcend the bonds of the individual and become part of something bigger. I desperately wish I could finish by telling you that we threw all our cards on the table and overcame all of the insurmountable odds and that I wear my state ring with pride. But, perhaps that will be the turnout for a future team. (it was your dream too) We fell short of our goal by just three games but we seniors could leave the field knowing we had laid the foundation for the teammates we were leaving behind. I can only hope that they will strive to keep this tradition of excellence and continue to pursue their dreams, just like the FWBHS 0-00 football team fought to do.

Order your Differences between Macbeth and Lady Macberg paper at affordable prices with cheap essay writing service! The differences between Macbeth and Lady Macbeth are profound. Initially one is under the impression of the two being in harmony with each other and that their marriage is almost ideal. However, as the play develops one soon gleans the true differences in character and attitude of the two partners. Initially Macbeth is frightened and unsure while Lady Macbeth projects an image of self-assurance, poise and confidence. In the end, Lady Macbeth is reduced to a guilt-ridden, confused and hallucinating individual who has proven that her initial mettle was a façade that would soon crumble when she has to face the consequences, of her actions, while Macbeth is tortured in a different way he seems to thrive on the murders he commits.

• When Macbeth meets the witches and writes to Lady Macbeth their minds are very much in accord with each other.

• Macbeth is as yet uncertain of the witches prophecy though it is evident that his ambitious nature has already spurred him on to think of the possibility of usurping Duncan's power.

• Lady Macbeth resolves to help her husband '…pour spirits in thine ear' because she thought that he lacked the courage to carry through with the deed 'his nature… so full of the milk of human kindness'

• She is extremely in touch with what Macbeth is envisaging for himself "I feel now the future in the instant" and she also becomes motivated to aid Macbeth in whatever way is necessary.

• In planning the murder of Duncan their intimacy heightens. "What cannot you and I perform upon the unguarded Malcom"

• Her seemingly ruthless nature is exposed when she talks about her wish to be unsexed.

• Lady Macbeth spurs Macbeth on and ridicules his manhood in order for him to become determined enough to carry out the murder.

• When the actual murder of King Duncan is committed Lady Macbeth is still portrayed as the stronger of the two and she ridicules Macbeth's lack of bravery when he talks of the "multitudinous seas incarnadine" as she says that "a little water shall clear us of this deed".

• It is only after Macbeth unnecessarily kills the guards that Lady Macbeth begins to feel isolated and the reality of the killings begin to dawn on her.

• This isolation grows as is evident when Lady Macbeth queries "How now my lord! Why do you keep alone?" The couple are also having sleepless nights. This is accompanied by less and less communication as Macbeth shuts Lady Macbeth out and as Macbeth allows his bloodthirstiness to take over and preside over all sense. "Blood will have blood" encapsulates his new cruelty.

• At the banquet despite Lady Macbeth's efforts to rescue Macbeth from his obvious mistakes, it is evident that the two are no longer as they used to be. In a way their partnership has come to an end as Macbeth submits himself to the forces of evil, his ambitiousness and ignorance of the consequences.

• The isolation of Lady Macbeth drives her mad she cannot bear the guilt and torment that she is undergoing. She cannot sleep and her weakness, in comparison to Macbeth, is obvious. Macbeth stands strong but his guilt is channelled into something akin to paranoia as he continues killing.

• Lady Macbeth dies but Macbeth does not grieve as is expected of a husband and although his fatalistic soliloquy conveys his belief that life is meaningless this just emphasises one of Shakespeare's themes in the play and is not directly as a result of Lady Macbeth's death. He has lost all true love for her and her death is merely regarded as an inconvenience, his reaction is sympathetic but hardly one of mourning and this epitomises the distance, created by the isolation that lay between them in the latter part of the play.

Macbeth and Lady Macbeth are largely influenced by their actions. One of the central themes of the play that is fundamental in the deterioration of the relationship between Macbeth and Lady Macbeth is that of the isolation and meaninglessness that will eventually result from selfishness and cruelty for your own ends. Both of their characters had extreme depth to them and their transformation was evident in both the psychological (insanity, hallucinations and so forth) and physical (loss of sleep) effects that their actions had on them. The play also manages to capture the essence of how the characters of Macbeth and Lady Macbeth each contributed to the segregation from one another.

Domestic Violence in Gay/Lesbian Relationships

In society today when a spouse is domestically abused it is frowned upon to the point of great punishment for the accused. The accused party is most likely convicted of domestic violence charges and most likely sentenced to prison or in drastic cases…even worse. The same instances occur in same-sex relationships everyday, but they are not looked upon in the same light. The violence is still frowned upon, but there are no real "partner" laws to protect the abused partner and to allow them to have a basis to fight back on. Even though in the world today, gay and lesbian relationships are more prominent they are still looked upon in a different light in domestic violence cases.

Back in 14 there was a case ion Perth, Australia where a man by the name of Robert McEwan was arrested and charged with the willful murder of his same-sex partner of fourteen years. His partner was died from multiple stab wounds, but McEwan pled not guilty on the defense of the "battered wife syndrome". He claimed that he had been abused physically, emotionally and sexually by his partner for several years. In a long court case the courts decided to not proceed with the willful murder charge and the charge was put to a lesser manslaughter charge.Cheap Custom Essays on Domestic Violence in Gay/Lesbian Relationships

The case previously mentioned was one of the first and only same-sex cases that based it's actions on the "battered wife syndrome". The question arises in this area that if an individual is to base their actions on the "battered wife syndrome" then wouldn't it make sense that the couple would have to have a legal marriage title. The problem with this is that in many states in the United States and even places around the world do not recognize same-sex marriages and therefore a same-sex partner could not rely on the "battered wife syndrome" to serve as protection to them.

Society today has really begun to put a lot of focus on domestic violence, but as pointed out before the only relationships that they really look into are heterosexual relationships. With the gay and lesbian population increasing and becoming more of a culturally acceptable taboo society is going to have to start conforming some of their preconceived thoughts. It's amazing to see the statistics that 15%-0% of gay and lesbian couples are affected by domestic violence. As for gay men today domestic violence is the third most severe health problem facing gay men today…trailing behind only AIDS and substance abuse.

The major problem today with the issue of domestic violence in gay and lesbian relationships is that it still remains largely a taboo subject even within the gay and lesbian communities. A large quantity of gay and lesbian couples deny any sort of signs of domestic violence in their relationships and there is also the fact that there is a major fear that they will receive no help in their situation. In the heterosexual world, if a spouse is being abused and reports it to authorities then they can usually press charges and the law enforcement will look into the situation and place it in top priority. There are places for battered women to go and clinics to help individuals find help. In the homosexual world however the fear of being shrugged off or ignored and then to have to face the fear of the accused finding you out is a major fear. There is not yet enough of a cultural acceptance in society today to make the gay and lesbian communities totally equal to that of the heterosexual world. In time there may be perhaps a chance of the that occurring, but in the near future this is not a very likely occurrence.

Same sex violence is not going to be overcome easily. The main problem with the whole issue is that there is too much silence and there is going to have to be a break in the silence in order for there to be a break in the violence. There are going to have to be individuals that will step up and challenge the systems at the cost of comfortableness. The gay and lesbian communities are going to have to raise the awareness of domestic violence in gay and lesbian relations and let the world know that they aren't going to stand back and watch people get beaten with no assistance just because of a difference of views between the parties. It is not going to be an easy trek, but who ever said life was going to be easy. Sometimes people have to make the choice of living comfortably or shaking things up to make things right again.

Please note that this sample paper on Domestic Violence in Gay/Lesbian Relationships is for your review only. In order to eliminate any of the plagiarism issues, it is highly recommended that you do not use it for you own writing purposes. From the beginning of a child's life parents always dream of what their kids will grow up and be. Every parent's dream is for their kid to be very successful and make a good living. Many parents dream of their kids being very rich. Lawyers and accountants make the money parents dream of their kids making. A lawyer as well as an accountant make the big bucks everyone dreams of making. These are two great careers one should explore when thinking about a lifetime job. These two careers are both good choices, but they have their differences. Among these differences are their salaries, education requirements, and skill requirements.

Lawyers and accountants both make great money, but their income can differ. The amount of money one earns depends on several factors. Most accountants coming out of college with a bachelor's degree earn between $,000 and $5,000 a year. Senior accounts can earn up to $50,000 a year. Owners and partners of firm can earn $100,000+ a year. These opportunities are rare, but can be reached. An accountant with a major earns considerably more than one with just a bachelor's degree. A CPA makes more money than all the rest of accountants. Lawyers can make even more money than accountants. Lawyers starting in salaried positions earn an average of $7,000 a year. Starting salaries with the federal government are about $,00 to $6,000 depending upon their education level and specialization. An experienced lawyer in a private practice earns an average of $115,000 a year, as compared to an experienced lawyer working for the government who earns about $68,000 a year. The potential money is enough to make anyone want to be a lawyer or accountant. But, before making the big bucks, one must first obtain a degree.

College is a must for an accountant or lawyer. The minimum educational requirement for accountants is a bachelor's degree in accounting. Programs for obtaining a bachelor's degree are offered throughout the country. Some positions require one to have a master's degree in either accounting or business administration. One with a master's degree can earn considerably more money than someone with just a bachelor's degree. Continuing education courses to renew their license is required for those holding CPA designation. Educational requirements for lawyers include a bachelor's degree plus three years of law school. In order to get into law school, one must first take an examination called the LSAT (Law School Admission Test). One must also graduate from an American Bar Association, which means it is an approved college or university. After completing law school one must take yet another test. This one is the bar examination. One must take it for the state in which they plan to practice. After passing this, one can begin the law practice. After obtaining a degree, the next step is to find a job.

There are vast areas in which one can practice law or accounting. Employment for accountants is broad. Accountants may work in one of the following areas public accounting firms, federal government, corporations in an industry, state government, or local government. The 1st century offers great job opportunities for accountants. In Jane Shaddrix's book The Accountant Today, she says, "As tax laws and other financial matters become more complex, the demand for accountants will grow tremendously" (116). There is expected to be hundreds of new jobs for upcoming accounts in the next five years. Job opportunities will be easy to find. A good law job is important as well. There are many choices. In Shelly Field's book 100 Best Careers for the 1st Century, she says, "Careers in law are as varied as the people who work in the field" (181). Individuals may choose several paths to take. One may work in large firms, small firms, or in their own private practice. They may also work in corporate legal departments or in legal aid offices. There are many areas in which a lawyer can specialize. They may specialize in areas including criminal law, patents and trademarks, tax law, corporate law, aviation law, maritime law, family law, general law, government law, etc. There is expected to be many job opportunities for the 1st century. Shelly Fields say, "Given the demographics of society, the new century will most likely see specialization in law for the elderly." One has many opportunities for a job once receiving a law or accounting degree.

Any advertisement, whether it is on a billboard, magazine page, or television screen, the advertising firm and people associated with its creation try to get a unique message across to a preferred audience. This is usually done by using manipulative techniques to encourage a response in the advertisement's target audience. There are many techniques used to manipulate the viewer, those of which would be all related to the AIDA theory of attention, interest, desire and action. The use of these four core techniques provide a good basis on how successful the advertisement would be. Creators of a particular advertisement incorporating these techniques in a way that aren't usually distinguishable at first. With the print advertisement of "It Runs in the Family" a number of these factors that determine the successfulness of the advertisement come into account.

Through genre, a target audience which every advertisement has is determined by the genre. For this particular advertisement for "It Runs in the Family", the particular audience it's aimed at is noticeably of family. The most obvious feature of determining the target audience is of the slightly casual and formal type portrait of a family as the advertisement's main image. The fashion in which the advertisement is advertised suggests that it is mainly aimed at adult audiences which are reaching, past or are at the family stage of their life. The impact on any other audiences is fairly light because simply, the film isn't set out to attract them particularly. Such as trying to get people who view action movies to see "It Runs in the Family" where simply, it won't work out because these action viewers are interested in heavy, blown up advertising, not a main image of a family.

The advertisement persuades the target audience to fall for the movie in a sly way. This slyness is done in a fashion where the symbols and use of language is presented in way to best suit the target audience and have persuasion. One way is through the slogan of the movie being "Some families can survive anything. Even each other" how it sums up the movie in a small phrase, making people curious and want to find out about the movie. The two main actors in the movie are father and son and the title of the movie, "It Runs in the Family" gives the sense of the saying like father, like son which tells us that some characteristics of one character is the same of another character. This would immediately bring out the point that a character in the movie wants to be unique, but is frustrated that they have inherited another characters attributes and wants to rid of these. The captioned text the advertisement has gives us hints that this is true.

The way the family is presented to us is that they are giving the impression that they are of middle to upper class of society. They are all well dressed, being in trend for the younger family members and upper-class style clothes with jewellery for the two elderly members. From the impression that the photo gives us as they are middle to upper class, they would be bonded and in touch with one another where they would have qualities of a typical family.

Write my Essay on print advertising 'it runs in the family' for me

The advertisement encourages societal values by promoting a family that sticks together no matter what is thrown at them, which is encapsulated by the advertisements tag line of "Some families can survive anything. Even each other." Families would also be attracted to the film by as the final line of the caption being "about the loving, frustrating, reassuring, insane and ultimately inescapable bonds of family" which promotes a typical family where issues like the caption states are faced by families worldwide.

A gimmick used to achieve the advertiser's purpose also persuades the reader to take action and gains their attention and interest with viewers of the advertisement being drawn to a chance to "Win one of 50 double movie passes" stated boldly which is attached to a coupon. Some viewers might ignore the competition and read the article anyway. The aim of the bold heading would be to gain the attention of viewers for a competition, then persuade them to read the article as a type of condition attached to the competition through a decision to see the movie.

I think this advertisement would be successful for its 'family' orientated audiences. Being apart of the 'family' genre which is more challenging to sell to, the advertisement has implemented aspects of attention, interest, desire and action effectively. Through its use of these factors, this particular advertising campaign as a magazine advertisement would be successful. The creators have used unique features of the factors to successfully make the advertisement work.

Discrimination and Poverty

House on Mango Street is a harsh, but truthful reality of a segregated ethnic group, living in poverty. This short story discusses the hardships a Latino community underwent in the 150's. The book confronts problems such as racial discrimination, female oppression, violence, theft, rape, sexual harassment, the lack of job opportunities, as well as the lack of quality education, and discrimination in schools. House on Mango Street, represents what most people don't know about life in the 150's. It takes a deeper look at America, and starts to reveal the dark side of what most people would call, "the happy days".

Esperanza, the main character in House on Mango street, is a young Latino girl who lives in Chicago in the mid 150's. She lives on Mango Street with her younger sister Nenny, her brothers, her mother, and father. Esperanza's father is a gardener for well off families, her mother is a stay at home housewife. Esperanza, and I would imagine many young people of similar circumstance during that period, didn't enjoy her life. She was ashamed of her ethnicity, and her family's economic situation She felt like she was trapped in the Latino ghetto, that she grew up in. She felt there was no way to escape. She didn't want to end up like her mother who toiled with household needs, and children. She wanted to be her own person, with an identity that she could be proud of. Throughout the book Esperanza dreams about a nice, big, wonderful house that's all her own. I felt that Esperanza believed that with a new house came a new identity. In this story Esperanza was confronted with many situations, which force her to redefine her identity. In the beginning of the story Esperanza explains her names origin. She states, "In English my name means hope. In Spanish it means too many letters." She then goes on to explain that she is named after her grandmother. She talks about how her grandmother didn't get to do the things she wanted to do in her life. "She looked out the window her whole life, the way so many women sit their sadness on an elbow." Esperanza says, "I have inherited her name, but I don't want to inherit her place by the window." Esperanza confronts the sexual oppression women face in the 150's.

Esperanza's family worked hard to put their children in a respectable catholic school. Although Esperanza attended what was considered to be a good school, she was still looked down upon by her classmates, and teachers because of her ethnicity. One day a teacher asked Esperanza to show her where her house was. Esperanza does so, only to find the teacher expressing disgusted with her living situation. Esperanza faced many different kinds of discrimination throughout her life, in the Chicago ghetto. One day Esperanza, and some of her friends where playing in the street, a young man that they knew, cruised up in a lovely yellow Cadillac. The young man said, "hop in, and come for a ride with me." Just as Esperanza began to celebrate the good fortune of her friend, the sirens began to scream. It turns out that the Cadillac was stolen. Esperanza was experiencing the reality of living in poverty; with lack of money, and little economic power, people resort to crime.

The Latino community was determined to fit in with the American ways. One young friend of Esperanza's named Juan, went by the name Meme to try to fit in, and to be accepted by the white community. In one of the short vignettes, Cathy queen of cats, Esperanza becomes friends with a young neighborhood girl. The young girl says "I'll be your friend; but only until next Tuesday. The neighborhood is getting bad." The young girl was moving because her father didn't like the changes occurring due to the increase in the number of Latinos moving into the area. This young girl represents the tension and fear the white community had when interacting with different ethnic groups.

Esperanza, and some of her friends scrounge together $15.00 to buy a used bike for all of them to share. In their minds it was the best thing that could have happened, they had a "new" bike. A group of girls sharing one bike would not be a cause for celebration for a middle-class white family. The people in the white community weren't the only ones who felt safe with their own race. "All brown all around, we are safe," was an expression used in the Latino community. Esperanza quotes this when explaining the fear she had when driving in a neighborhood of another "color". She explains how she rolls the windows up, and keeps her eyes straight ahead.

The Latino community was tired of the lack of opportunity, and the immense amount of poverty they had lived with for so long. They witnessed the privileges, and opportunities that other people were given, and hoped that they to would be able to indulge in the same options. The Latinos wanted to be regarded by society as equal, yet maintain the diversity of their culture. Like the characters in the House on Mango Street, the Latino community, of the 150's, really wanted the freedom of equality, so much that they were going to be willing to fight for it in the Civil Rights Movement of the 160's.

The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka, and The Stranger by Albert Camus are very different in approach, although their endings are similar in that they both support the basics of existentialism. Existentialism is defined as a philosophical movement that human beings are completely free and responsible for their own actions. Existentialists will try not to cause waves and remain completely uninvolved with anyone because they do not want to hurt anybody. There is absolutely no such thing as an existentialist because he would have to be so uninvolved to the point where he would not be able to live at all. In the two following novels, The Metamorphosis and The Stranger, the main characters Gregor and Meursault, prove to be the existentialist characters that they are, through their daily lives, leading to their horrible fate at the end.

The biggest difference between the two characters Gregor and Mersault is their physical form. One has changed physically into a giant insect while the other remains a normal human being. Another difference is the situation between the characters and their mothers. Gregor wants to have a relationship with his mother but cannot because of his physical form. Mersault's mother is alive and well for part of the novel, but he does not want to take care of her or have anything to do with her. The two characters are similar in the way that they do not believe in God and will both die lonely and abandoned.

Kafka creates a very lonely and abandoned world for Gregor Samsa in his short novel Metamorphosis. Gregor is an existentialist character who mutates into a giant bug without reason and no longer has any control over his life. He becomes completely uninvolved in the way that he does not talk or have any interaction with anyone inside or outside of the family. He is dehumanized. Gregor's mother is disgusted by the looks of him and refuses to see or talk to him. Gregor is now lonely and abandoned by his family, does not eat and eventually dies. He seems be to quite the existentialist as Kafka portrays him as a workaholic, pessimistic, and tedious person, who basically lives the same boring life everyday. He gets up and goes to work( as a salesmen) providing for his family with no cares in the world, as he thinks that it his duty and just "what he has to do" in life. His view on life seems to be quite short and simple just live life, and do what you must do. A perfect example of this is when he mutates into a bug, and wakes up thinking that he is still able to move on to work. When he wakes up, Gregor does not seem to be in any real shock, and in fact is really passive believing that his work was more important then his obvious metamorphosis into a bug. Over time, Gregor excepts his transformation, knowing he is a monstrous vermin who is unable to do what he used to do in life, so his final decision was the choose the likes of death by starving himself.

In the short novel The Stranger it was Camus who first introduced the idea of absurdity into the realm of existentialism. To absurdity springs from Mersault, who is an existentialistic character in relation to the world in this book, and the idea that he exists as a human being in society is inexplicable and wholly absurd. He does not wish to become involved with anyone, including God and his own mother and does not have any emotion what so-ever when she dies. Although Mersault does not want to become involved with anyone, he also does not want to create waves, thus he cannot help but to say yes to a friend when he asks him for help. He becomes susceptible to the physical. Mersault takes responsibility for his actions by being executed after he commits murder. The philosophy of The Outsider is a philosophy of the absurd. Its protagonist, Monsieur Meursault; a middle class bachelor with a painfully simple life, is viewed as indifferent in the eyes of society. He does not care and is not ashamed of it. But his indifference is not one of callousness but stems instead from the benign indifference of the universe in relations to his own existence. Camus has wittingly created his main character as a reflection of his own moral axiom that life is absurd and nothing else matters besides ones own conscious existence. Meursault is a stranger, an outsider, one who is at constant odds with the absurd society he inhabits. It's amazing how Meursault just drifts through his life, not really noticing his important surroundings and everyday life. The only thing that he actually notices is the 'hot sun' which he looks up to once in a while as he is walking in his daily life. He seems to be quite the dull, passive and submissive person as Camus portrays him, and yet he seems to be so intriguing and an interesting character too. Meursaults existentialist character is what makes him what he is in this novel, and shows him to be relatively shallow and in a sense superficial.

Both the stories' endings support the basics of existentialism by demonstrating the following rules responsibilities, loneliness, abandonment, no control, do not cause waves and the act of being uninvolved. Gregor and Mersault demonstrate all of these characteristics; however they do cause waves. As a result of Gregor's metamorphosis his entire family must change their lives and Mersault creates waves by committing murder. Unfortunately, whether it be because of their existentialistic characteristics or not, they both share death which comes to them at the end of the story. Perhaps the main thing that they share in common, is that they both "bond" as existentialist characters, even though they may differ in physical form, the core of the characters Gregor and Meursault are solely based on existentialism.

Since independence the growth record of Pakistans economy has been quite respectable and compares favorably with other countries in South Asia.

Pakistans economy displayed broad-based positive trends during the outgoing fiscal 00-.

There are three challenges ahead. First, to raising the level of investments - both public and private to sustain growth rate. Second, to reduce poverty and improving social indicators by reducing the social gap. Third, to improving the health of the public sector entities, particularly power utilities, which posed serious risk to the budget.

Pakistans per capita income is the highest in South Asia except for Sri Lanka.

The country has moved out of the first stage of industrialization focused on consumer goods to more sophisticated basic and heavy engineering goods. In agriculture, the growth has kept ahead of the population, an achievement that has eluded many developing countries.

The real GNP at factor cost grew by 8.4 per cent in 00- against 5. per cent last year, mainly on account of 47 per cent increase in net factors income from abroad.

The agriculture sector registered a 4. per cent growth against a target of .5 per cent, with major crops growing at 5.8 per cent.

The large-scale manufacturing grew by 8.7 per cent against a target of 6 per cent and last years growth of 4. per cent.

Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE) rising from 1,770 points in June 00 to an all time high of ,117 points on May 00, registering an increase of 76 per cent.

The total consolidated revenue is estimated at Rs706.1 billion in 00- as against Rs64.1 last year, registering an increase of 1.1 per cent. Against this, total consolidated expenditure is estimated at Rs8.5 billion which is 8 per cent higher than last year.

The exchange rate appreciation to the extent of 4 per cent has also reduced debt payable in foreign exchange by more than 5 billion. It stood at 1. trillion or 47. per cent of the GDP.

The increase in imports was attributed to additional imports spending on machinery by 5.6 per cent.

The trade deficit posted an improvement of 14 per cent, or $18.8 million.

Public debt had reduced from Rs.65 trillion in June 00 to Rs.64 trillion, showing a reduction of around Rs5 billion.

The revenue collection has already achieved a growth rate of 15 per cent, a first in many years.

To achieve this target, the country needs a higher level of investment both domestic and foreign. That would make it possible to derive the maximum benefit out of the new favorable turn in the countrys economic fortunes.

The menacing growth of corruption and poor human resources development have blemished Pakistans economic record. The growth record of Pakistans economy since independence has been quite respectable and compares favorably with other countries in South Asia. The flow of goods and services from economic activities within the country which is measured by gross domestic product (GDP) has expanded at a rate of around five per cent, which is a commendable achievement. Consequently, in terms of 15-60 prices, per capita income rose from Rs 16 at the time of independence to Rs 1,064 in 18-. In dollar terms the increase over the 5-year-period has been from $116 to $48. Pakistans per capita income is the highest in South Asia except for Sri Lanka.

It cannot be denied that Pakistan, which at the time of independence was regarded as an economic wasteland has, through concerted efforts, institutionalized growth. The country has also moved out of the first stage of industrialization focused on consumer goods to more sophisticated basic and heavy engineering goods. In agriculture, the growth has kept ahead of the population, an achievement which has eluded many developing countries.

The educational network has shown substantial expansion. Enrolment at the primary school level increased from 0.77 million in 148 to 17. million 18-. There are at present 6 universities, 65 professional colleges, 75 arts and science colleges and 48 secondary vocational institutes in the country. While even most of the urban areas at the time of independence had no electricity, most of the villages in Pakistan are equipped with electricity today. Fifty-two years ago, the total number of telephones in Pakistan was no more than 10,000 while at present their number is ,861,000 (.8 m).

Savings and investment rates in Pakistan are unusually low, even relative to many other low-income countries At these low rates of savings and investment, it would not be possible for Pakistan to support future economic growth of seven per cent a year, which is socially necessary, in view of Pakistans neglected infrastructure system and low levels of investment in social sectors. Efforts to maintain a high rate of growth without mobilizing more national savings would result in a rapid accumulation of non-concessional external debt with serious consequences for the balance of payments position of the country in the not too distant future. The main imbalance between savings and investment in Pakistan arises in the public sector. The overall budget deficit - the gap between the consolidated public revenues and expenditures - is currently one of the most serious macro-problems facing Pakistans economy

The country is currently engaged in finalizing the ninth five-year plan (18-00). In terms of the approach document to this plan, the economy should move forward on a rapid and steady path so that it can get a GDP growth of seven per cent annually rather than the 5.7 per annually during 188-6 and around .8 per cent per annum during 16-. The ninth plan was being prepared at a time when the economy was under severe pressure on account of large macro-economic imbalances, unfavorable international economic environment, massive burden of internal and external debt and institutional erosion.

In literature, there are many themes that we find over and over in many cultures and from many periods in time. One of these reoccurring themes is the "coming-of-age", when a young person goes through the transition from childhood to adulthood and has a significant life experience. It is clear that these coming of age stories are crucial component of our self-conceptions and representations.

We all know lots of coming-of-age stories. Weve read them in books, seen them at the movies and on TV, and in plays and operas. Usually, these stories are of the heartwarming variety. A young person confronts the frightening prospect of growing older, leaving youth for adulthood, and dealing with a world far more complicated than he or she had thought it was. Sure theres pain to be encountered along the way, but in most of these stories the person eventually sees maturity as a reward - and painful growth as a passage into a new world filled with prospects and promise.

But what if the new, grown up world seems bleaker than the old one? I think, when entering adulthood, instead of grieving over the loss of youth, we should revel in newfound possibilities. The coming-of-age story then is not a tragedy, but a heartwarming tale of growth and fulfillment.

One reason for the popularity of this theme is simply that it is a universal experience. Everyone, no matter when or where they were born, has to grow up at some point, and being able to read about someone elses experience can provide young readers with something that they can relate to, and it provides older readers with memories of the past.

The teen years are, of course, when the coming-of-age process is most obvious, when young people are perched precariously on the brink between childhood and adult responsibilities. It is then that most young adults are making decisions, which will have tremendous influence on the shape of their lives to come. This reminds me of the story called "Dawn" where the main character, Barnsey, experienced his coming-of-age.

As he boarded a bus to travel to his grandmother's, 1 year-old Barnsey's worst fears were realized. He had to sit next to someone "weird", an adventurous girl with nose rings and a Mohawk. She was about twenty and dressed all in black. Barnsey's first reaction to Dawn was negative. He had a prejudice against her because of her outward appearance. Later, he had to realize that he "shouldn't judge a book by its cover".

They were listening music, but Dawn liked gentle, contemplative music, while Barsney enjoyed hard rock. But both were willing to listen to the other's tape and allowed themselves to enjoy the new experience. Despite their different taste in music, she and Barnsey became "mates".

Barnsey was attracted to Dawn's personality. She had a British accent and used lots of slang, and she was traveling all around the world. Her whole character symbolized independence and freedom. In addition, her spontaneity was the opposite of Barnsey's parents' careful planning.

Dawn called Barnsey "mate", which means that she considered him a friend somehow. By the end of the trip, Barnsey understood that friendship is one of the most precious things in life. He learned from Dawn that looking through the eyes of a friend could open up a whole new world.

At Christmas, Barnsey had to face up to the fact that his parents would divorce. First, it was quite unconceivable to him, then later everything was suddenly clear to him. He could hear in his head all the signs and hints stretching back through the months how far, he wasn't sure. Anger piled up in his heart, because nobody had told him anything.

In his despair, he left the house. He wanted to go to Vancouver and find Dawn because he was tired of the "rubbish" surrounding his parents' divorce. He also wanted to find her because she was the embodiment of freedom, spontaneity, and self-assurance. At the bus terminal, he found an unfamiliar tape with a piece of note in his backpack. It was from Dawn. The memory of Dawn and her gift of tape helped Barnsey cope with his parents' divorce. She gave him hope for a new beginning.

Although Barnsey spent only a brief time with Dawn, she became a powerful influence in his life. The writer reinforced this influence by using the symbolism of her name. The word "Dawn" can be associated with sun rising, new beginnings, and renewal. Her friendliness and spontaneity evoke fresh beginnings.

Generally, all of living is a process of coming-of-age, of reconciling the essence of the inner self with one's outer being. Without any doubt, Barnsey is also a coming-of-age story. He acquiesced in the unchangeable fact that his life wouldn't be the same anymore. He moved from adolescence to adulthood with the capability of managing his parents' divorce.

My coming-of-age story is different than Barnsey's. Fortunately, I didn't have to deal with a broken up family, but I also have to learn quite early to be on my own. My parents sent me to an excellent high school, which meant that I had to live in a dorm. I was only 14 years old. I remember, how timid and deeply touched I was standing in front of the building. I didn't exactly know what would happen to me, and my life in "my new home". I had plenty of freedom, but I also had to learn how to use it. During these years I became an adult, who could solve most of her problems on her own. My life then had many pitfalls, but finally I became independent.

In our own lives, we are constantly trying to find our place in the world and discover what our purpose here is. We have our dreams and our desires, and we want to fit those into the world. But how does our view of ourselves, and our place in the world change as we grow and gain life experience? Coming-of-age stories give us the opportunity to discover those answers through the experiences of the characters. Barnsey, the young character of "Dawn" is one example, who matured to understand something about the world he lives in, and his role in it.
